December commenced with World AIDS Day. We focused on the progress made to date and raised awareness about the challenges that remain to achieve the goals of ending AIDS by 2030. We took our red ribbon around all campuses and took photos of students holding it and made it into an amazing collage.
We held our first home made Christmas Present Crafting Session during the first week of December. We showed you how to make handwarmers and chocolate reindeers. We also showed you how to wrap your presents nicely and a couple of you had us wrap the presents you had already bought! All our crafting events where held at different campuses on different dates so as many students as possible could take part.
Continuing the build up to Christmas, we held a Student Christmas Party in the Loft where we enjoyed non-alcoholic drinks, snacks, party games and, of course, good company!
To help our students with younger children, we devised fun exciting Elf on the Shelf ideas. Emma created elf sized laptops and an ice cream stall. These were very popular, so we will do this again next year.
We held our Annual Bake sale on 12th December. SU staff baked lots of scrumptious, mouth-watering cakes to raise money for free period products for students. A big thank you from the SU goes out to staff who donated cakes, those people who donated money and to everyone who bought cakes. We raised a grand total of £250! Brilliant!
Continuing the Christmas theme, we held a Christmas Quiz in the loft, Bingo at Orlando Halls and showed a Christmas film in the Loft.
On the last day of Uni before the Uni closed for the Christmas holiday, we offered hot chocolate and mince pies in the Chancellor’s Mall. A lovely way to start the Christmas holiday.
It’s been a very busy month, but we enjoyed it and hope you did too. See you all in the New Year!
