At the beginning of February, we held our Refreshers Fair and Activities Fair over two days.  Internal university departments, external organisations and our SU Societies and University sports clubs attended.  It was very well attended and both students and stall holders said they had a great experience.

During February we put on GIAG Origami and held the first ever Winter Olympics.  The Winter Olympics took place in the SLZ as it was quite cold outside!  We had lots of students join us over the course of two days and they told us they really enjoyed the activities and it was a fun thing to do.

Nominations opened for the Election of the next SU President and NUS Conference Delegate.  We have already received a number of nominations which is very encouraging. Nominations close Monday 6th March.

We took our ‘Wheel of Consent’ into the Mall and gave out information around the topic of Keep Safe Consent.   The information was well received and students found spinning the Wheel of Consent very informative.

SU staff held a bake sale to raise money to buy period products for students.  We, along with Gill Smart from the Chaplaincy baked cakes and a staff member from facilities donated cakes for us to sell.  We raised £285.  Students and staff who bought the cakes said they were very, very tasty.

In partnership with the Jobs for Students Team, we hosted a Volunteering Fair on Tuesday 14th February.  This was a fantastic opportunity for students to see what volunteering opportunities are on offer around Bolton and how to get involved.  Students were engaged and interested in supporting local causes.

Also, on Valentine’s Day, we had our very own cupid, who floated around the SLZ and Chancellor’s Mall dressed in a very fetching outfit complete with bow and arrow and gave out paper origami roses, made with love by SU and student staff.  Students really enjoyed our Cupid and said he really brightened up their day!

On Wednesday 22nd February the SU held its Annual General Meeting in the Loft.  We had a good attendance and made quoracy.  Everyone enjoyed learning more about the SU and its impacts on students.  You had lots of questions for the President.

February 23rd was LGBT and History Month information day in the Chancellor’s Mall.  We had lots of stands with lots of information.  It was a very lively and fun day.

We held a series of Course Rep Catch Ups in the Loft and online.  The aim was to check in on our Course Reps, to see what they’ve been up to and to answer any questions they had for us.
