We welcomed new and returning students to the University.  It’s great to see everyone face to face once again.  We had a fantastic Freshers Week, starting off with a welcome party, quizzes, karaoke and ending with our Welcome Fair, Activities Fair and Volunteering Fair.   Our Welcome Fair took place outside in the Marquee, we had a climbing wall, crazy golf and a bucking bronco.  It was great to see everyone, including SU and university staff challenging themselves on the climbing wall and having fun. 

We had Give it a go Chess and held our first Wellness Awareness event, the theme being consent.  We spoke to students about their understanding of consent, what behaviour is safe and not safe and how to be appropriate – both emotionally and physically to ensure positive consent.  

We were excited to open our new student space, The Hangout.  We have a pool table, table tennis, a football table, microwaves and kettles and a quiet area.  Feedback so far is that you love it, and appreciate having a space to go to play games, eat and relax.  The Hangout is set to get even better with the additions of a coffee machine and a vending machine.

We started to recruit the new Course Reps and Society Officers and helped students settle into Uni life and assisted students with their appeals.

Overall a busy September – as usual!
