Student volunteers and SU staff had to decide the winners and runner ups for the Student Led Teaching Awards which will take place in May.  We once again had a fantastic amount of nominations to look at with some really wonderful comments about University, student volunteers and SU staff members. After much debate, difficult decisions were made and the winners were decided.  Invitations were sent out to attend the SLTA evening in May.  Thanks to those students who took part.

In conjunction with Careers, Jess, the Academic Engagement Coordinator held a Couse Rep Employability session in the loft.   This event helped our Course Reps understand the skills they have gained whilst being a course rep and showed how to market themselves to future employers.  Reps who attended said it was really good and they learned a lot.

The newly opened Loft played host to the University Board of Governors.  University Governors had their lunch, freshly prepared by Sarah and Sheila in the Vista, and took the opportunity to chat to our Interim General Manager, Janet and Community Engagement Coordinator, Danielle about the Students’ Union and the purposes of the Loft.

As part of our Give It A Go sessions, the SFX students held a Quidditch game in the sports hall.  Lots of students attended and told us it was a laugh and hoped that the event would be put on again soon.

We also put on a Sign Language taster session as part of the Give It A Go project.  This was held over one afternoon in the Loft.  Students who attended told us that they really enjoyed it and got a lot out of it, so much so that the session overran by an hour!

The President and the elected NUS Conference Delegate attended NUS conference in Glasgow.  The conference was held over 3 days and the President and Conference Delegate voted on NUS policy and the future of the NUS.

We helped 8 students with various issues.
