Welcome back everyone, we hope you had a good Christmas break.
As you all know, it was exam week in January, and for many of you, you also had assignment deadlines to meet. So, to help you through this often difficult and stressful time, we held our usual Mind Your Mate Week. The CECs gave out de-stress bags containing, amongst other things, lavender bags, (to help you sleep and enhance your calmness), a homemade stress ball, a puzzle pack and peppermint tea. The CECs visited Orlando where they played board games, gave out homemade lemonade and chatted with students. In the Chancellor’s Mall we, again, gave out homemade lemonade and coloured in some fabulous pictures with you. Colouring in allows us to switch off our brains from other thoughts and focus on the moment. Colouring in can often help to relax you, reduce stress and boost mental clarity – and that’s why we do it!
Make sure you check up on your mates, if you feel they are struggling and maybe not coping too well, call into the Students’ Union and we can help.
Nominations opened for the SU Leadership Race. Bolton Students' Union is a Union run for students, led by students so every year you elect the students who will run Bolton SU and represent the student voice. There are 4 available positions in this year's Leadership Race - 1 Student Officer (President), 2 Student Trustees and 1 NUS Delegate. You can find each positions Job Description on this website. Nominations close on Friday 23rd February at 12pm. If you know of anyone who you think would make a good President, Student Trustee or NUS Delegate mention it to them and encourage them to stand. Call into the SU or visit the election website page for full details.
We held the Welcome Back Fair and Student Activities Awareness Day which were both great successes. We had inflatable goal posts in the SLZ and a shoot the hoop basketball game. Clubs and societies told us they signed up lots more members and have some great events planned for the future.
The CEC’s held a “Quiz of the Year 2017” with the winning team receiving a cash prize.
The CEC’s started their second round of shout outs – talking to new and existing students in their lectures about what the SU does, the elections and future events, making sure you all know who we are and what we do!
