A big welcome back to campus after the Christmas break, we hope you had a restful time. To help you get through your assessments in January, we held a Chocolate Meditation in the Loft with Chaplin Gill and did our Mind your Mate Campaign. We asked you to look out for signs that your friends are struggling or just not themselves and gave out information, advice and where to find specialist advice.
We held an employability and transferable skills day in the Chancellor’s Mall, held a stop smoking/vaping advice session and gave out compliments on National Compliment Day! Toni hosted a Give It A Go Rubix Cube session in the Loft which was very popular, although some of us still can’t do it, Toni said it took her 18 months to figure out how to do the Rubix cube, so we have a way to go yet.
Bill (Student Engagement coordinator) lead a group of students on a trip to the Imperial War Museum in Manchester to look at The Generations: Portraits of Holocaust Survivors Exhibition. The exhibition displays a collection of moving portrait photographs capturing the special connections between Holocaust survivors and the younger generations of their families, shining a light on the full lives they have lived and our collective responsibility to ensure their stories live on. Students, and Bill, reported that it was a very moving exhibition and recommended that everyone try to go and view it.
