How We Are Run

Bolton SU is the representative body for all University of Bolton students.  Our purpose is to promote the interests and welfare of students by representing, supporting and advising students.  As a student at the University of Bolton you are automatically a member of the Students’ Union.

We are a registered charity, an entirely independent organisation committed to ensuring we meet the needs of our students.

Your Representatives

Each year you elect students to positions at Bolton SU to represent you to the University and nationally.  SU President, NUS Delegate to conference, Course and School Reps.

Trustee Board

Bolton Students’ Union is governed by a Board of Trustees who ensure that Bolton SU is operating properly and in the best interest of students.  The Board is responsible for the financial health, legal compliance and direction of the Union.

Articles of Association

As a registered charity we have Articles of Association which are rules by which Bolton SU operates.  It sets out how decisions are made and the procedures which are followed to ensure that these are efficient, transparent and accountable to students.

Our Staff

Bolton SU employs 9 core staff members who work closely with the elected representatives to facilitate change at Bolton.  We also employ student staff members who work in The Vista and SU Shop.

Funding

Our principal funding sources are a block grant from the University of Bolton, as well as income from our commercial activities.
