Students were doing their exams at the beginning of January and, in order to support them, we held our Mind Your Mate Week.   We gave out water to keep students hydrated, granola bars to keep hunger at bay, de-stress kits to help unwind, held tea and chat sessions in the loft and also held quiet session in the loft so students could really chill out and relax.   At the end of the week, Ben and Rachel had a Win it in a Minute activity in the Chancellor’s Mall, this was really popular and everyone who took part had a good time.

Together with the Life Lounge and Chaplaincy teams, the SU hosted ‘Brew Monday’ in the SLZ.  This was an opportunity for students and staff to connect over a warm cuppa and a biscuit and, if they wanted to, take part in mindful activities.   Lots of students took advantage of Brew Monday and enjoyed the session.

The SU Annual Quality Report was sent to the University.  This is where we raise your concerns regarding the University directly to the Academic Registrar who then compiles an action plan to address those concerns.

Nominations opened for the next President and NUS Delegate to Conference.  Bolton SU is looking to students to elect, once again, the next leader of the Students’ Union.

We had lots of new students enrolling in January and the SU welcomed them to the University by handing out Welcome bags, inviting them to have a free beverage in the Vista and speaking to them at the IoM.

We held a Student Volunteering Fair.  Lots of local organisations attended and students were able to ask them questions about volunteering.  It was a really productive day and we received lots of positive feedback.

The Student Activities Awareness Day also took place in January, another opportunity for new and returning students to see what Societies and Sporting Clubs your University and Students’ Union can offer you.

We said goodbye to Jess the Academic Course Rep Coordinator and hello to Rachel who has taken over the position.  Good luck to both in your new roles.

Finally, The Vista received its Best Bar Non Platinum Award – a step up from the Gold Award.  The Vista continues to be a safe social space for students and continues to meet and improve on the criteria required to meet the high standards of the Best Bar Non Award.
