The opportunity: This is a one to one role where you are matched with a young person who needs a little bit of guidance and support from one of our volunteers. Through activities and having a space to talk, you will work on developing the young person's confidence, self-esteem, and resilience, and is a really rewarding experience. You will also be matched with a Coordinator from our team who is there to give you support and guidance as well as regular group activities for you and your young person to join in. An Independent Visitor is very similar but works with young people specifically in care, and as we are looking to provide that young person with a consistent adult in their lives, is for a minimum of 18months. Please note you must be 21+ and have access to a car. 

Locations: Out in the community

When: Flexible, meetings to be arranged between volunteer and young person.

Commitment: A few hours a fortnight for up to 18months for a mentor. A few hours every 2-3 weeks for a minimum of 2 years for an IV. 

 

About the project: Bolton Lads and Girls Club is a youth club and registered charity based in Bolton, Greater Manchester. Over 128 years ago, we were one of the first organisations in the North West to recognise the importance of providing young people with a safe haven to spend their free time.
