Why did Bolton SU start the Scheme?
The STARS Scheme was introduced in order to really try and take societies to the next level. It gives you as committee members a good idea of events and activities you can host, recognises your achievements and ensures successful societies are rewarded. Also, it creates a great community feel amongst society committees and members along with some healthy competition!
How do I prove I have gained points from an achievement?
Photos and registration names should be shown to prove an event has taken place and how many members attended. The Students’ Union will automatically update the points leader board once they have this information.
How will this information be advertised?
Once gaining points and stars this information will be shown here on our website, Societies Facebook Page, printed materials and leader board. The relevant colour star will be shown next to your society name.
To gain Bronze you must accrue 70 POINTS
Once you have completed all the basic achievements for a society you should have attained enough points to gain Bronze status. With this you will gain certificates for your committee, business cards or stickers for promotion and you will also be entered into a draw to win special funding of up to £25for approved and budgeted society activities. The draw will be held at the end of November and again at the end of February.
To gain Silver you must accrue 140 POINTS
Following Bronze you can achieve Silver status by reaching 140 points. In addition to the Bronze rewards you will be rewarded with a coffee and cake session to use as you wish, professional photos of your society and committee, 10% off UoB merchandise at the SU shop for committee members and you will also be entered into a draw to win special funding of up to £50for approved and budgeted society activities. The draw will be held at the end of November and again at the end of February.
To gain Gold you must accrue 200+ POINTS
Once reaching a total of 200 points you will be awarded Gold Status. You will be rewarded with T-Shirts and a banner to promote your society and gain an automatic nomination for Society of the Year at the Society Awards! You will also be entered into a draw to win special funding of up to £100for approved and budgeted society activities. The draw will be held at the end of November and again at the end of February.
Maintaining your award
If you gain Bronze, Silver or Gold in semester one, to maintain that through semester two you must show continued activity through monthly activity logs.
