Support First Befriender

The opportunity:  BAND is working in partnership with Urban Outreach Bolton on the Support First Befriending Project. Support First provides holistic, recovery-based support for individuals in Bolton who have a range of complex social and lifestyle needs which are resulting in a high demand on emergency services. There may be a range of issues from mental health needs, alcohol/drug dependency, history of offending, anti-social behaviour, insecure/unstable accommodation or homelessness and learning difficulties. We are looking for committed volunteers with the ability to work in an empathic way to build and sustain a one-to-one partnership with individuals. You will support beneficiaries to develop their personal recovery action plan; to work towards achieving their self-identified goals and increase their independence.

About the project: Volunteers play an important role in this project, and will receive full training and induction to the service followed by ongoing support and supervision throughout their volunteering role by the Development Worker of the project. Mandatory training is required prior to undertaking a position and further training will be offered relevant to the post. Reasonable travel, food and beverages expenses will be paid in accordance with our expenses policy.
