Buddying Volunteer

The opportunity: We are looking for committed volunteers with the ability to work in an empathic way to build a one-to-one partnership with individuals who have a lived experience of mental health. You will support patients on their discharge from hospital, helping them to identify things that might be difficult for them and to make a plan to overcome the difficulties. This could be anything from making sure that there is food in the house and dealing with unopened post to rebuilding social networks and getting in touch with relevant services that can help with some of their problems. You will support the person whilst they put the plan into action.

About the project: Volunteers play an important role in this project, and will receive full training and induction to the service followed by ongoing support and supervision throughout their volunteering role by the Development Worker of the project. Mandatory training is required prior to undertaking a position and further training will be offered relevant to the post. Reasonable travel, food and beverages expenses will be paid in accordance with our expenses policy.
