Football Coach Volunteer and Junior Kicks: BLGC

The opportunity: We currently have over 30 football teams in the BLGC family, with young people of all ages (even some adult teams as well!). These teams are coached by a Volunteer Football Coach and Volunteer Assistant Coach, supported by our Volunteer Development Officer Ste Stringer. These volunteers manage their own teams, designing drills to develop the young people’s skills, and providing fun games and sessions one evening a week, as well as competing in weekend league games. For the Football Coach position, Volunteers also need to complete a number of FA endorsed training, which is paid for by BLGC. We also have our Junior Kicks development sessions for young people not quite ready for a team. These are fun large group sessions and are a good option for volunteers who would like to develop their own skills.

Locations: Hacken Lane, Spa Road and Westhoughton

When: Dates and times vary between teams, but usually on an evening

Commitment: We ask for a minimum of one season (roughly 12 months), once a week for Junior Kicks and one training session and a weekend game a week for the teams.

About the project: Bolton Lads and Girls Club is a youth club and registered charity based in Bolton, Greater Manchester. Over 128 years ago, we were one of the first organisations in the North West to recognise the importance of providing young people with a safe haven to spend their free time.
