1.         It's your Students' Union!

You became a member of the SU when you enrolled as a student.  The Students' Union is your students' Union, run by students for students.  We are a democratic organisation; you elect the President to lead your Student's Union for one year.

2.         Voting gives you a say on important issues that affect you 

Each candidate writes pledges stating the aims and objectives they will work to achieve if they are elected.  Make sure you read each candidate's pledge so you can make an informed decision on who to vote for.

3.         Be represented

The President of the SU sits on the Board of Governors at the University of Bolton.  The Board of Governors has the ultimate responsibility for the overall strategic direction and management of the finances, property and affairs of the university of Bolton.   You have an opportunity to vote for the candidate who you feel will best represent your interests at the Board of Governors.

4.         Have a say where the money is spent

The SU is a small charitable organisation and the elected SU President has influence over where its budget is spent - so choosing the right person is essential.  They will have a say in decisions such as new student facilities on campus to student events and how societies are funded.  Therefore, who you vote for can directly affect you.

5.         The Student Community depends on you!

Our student community is made up of a diverse range of students from different cultures and backgrounds.  Make sure your voice is heard and use your vote to elect the President who you think will best represent you and your fellow students.  Make the decision to vote in your own interests and for those around you. 

6.         You Decide

Elections are decided by the people who go out and vote. Take some time and learn about the candidates and their pledges.  If you don’t vote, someone else will make the decision for you. Your power is in your vote.
