I am Uchenna. I have enjoyed being Student Union President in the past few months; trust me, it is

an experience that is worth every bit of it. I will highly recommend that you seize this opportunity.

There are many ways this will impact you and your career, from the support

you’ll receive from the amazing University of Bolton and Union Staff.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

Represent over 20,000 on- and off-campus students across several university panels, boards, and committees.

First, as a governor, the board of governors is the highest decision-making body in

the university, followed by the Senate and the Student Union Board of Trustees.

Increase your network and make new connections from

your personal relationships with the VC, Provost, senior

management staff, the Mayor of Bolton, and regional

and regional Members of Parliament in the region.


Be the first point of contact between internal and external

organisations as it concerns student affairs at the university.
Stir the affairs of the Student Union and champion or initiate projects

that will drive engagement and improve the student experience.


Provide student feedback as governor. Channel student feedback

to the appropriate channel and initiate change on campus.


Become part of the University of Bolton students’ journey,

inspiring students and helping them integrate into the community.
Attend conferences and events hosted by the NUS.


Be a member of the Greater Manchester Student

Partnership and contribute to change in Greater Manchester.

The most interesting part of being president for me was the fact that it launched me globally, from being

featured in several newspapers, magazines and radios locally and internationally, to the opportunity to

initiate life-transforming projects geared towards student experience and our university student-first approach.




Don’t be afraid; you’ll receive all the support you need, from your predecessors to your tutors, the university,

and the union. Truly, it is not about beating anyone’s record; it is about embracing challenges and your ingenuity.
