Stay Safe at Night

Do you know how to stay safe at night? Here are 9 steps to keep yourself safe at night.

  • Before going on a night out make sure you eat a meal. Drinking on an empty stomach will make you drunk faster.
  • Make sure your phone has a full battery before leaving.
  • Try to avoid walking alone. Walking in groups will keep you safe. By being close with people you trust you lessen the chance of being a target for people up to no good.
  • Stick to busy streets with lots of lights and traffic whenever possible. People are less likely to do something if the area is well lit, CCTV and people around.
  • Try arranging a lift or get a taxi. If this is not possible and you have to get a bus, try sitting on the lower deck as this is closer to the driver and exits if something was to happen.
  • When getting a taxi, book it. When booking a taxi you know it is reputable.
  • Try to avoid using your phone or iPod. This will make you less aware of your surroundings and show you have something potentially valuable to steal.
  • If you think you’re being followed, go to somewhere busy and flag down a taxi.
  • Always make sure you keep someone in the loop on when you’re going out and coming home.

Following these steps will help keep you safe whilst you are out having fun.
